You can visit some places multiple times but still feel a different emotion each time. This was my experience with Mérida. During my recent visit there during Easter, I pondered about the role of AI in the field of art. AI is increasingly being used in the fields of archaeology and art history to digitally reconstruct and recreate ancient civilizations. With advanced imaging technologies and #AI, researchers can analyze and reconstruct ancient artifacts, buildings, and even entire cities. Although traditional methods and tools have enabled us to enjoy the marvels of ancient civilizations, what kind of experience can we expect with AI in the future?

If you're visiting Mérida, I highly recommend checking out its Roman Theatre, which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive structure was built in the 1st century BC and could hold up to 6,000 people. In addition to the Theatre, there was also an Amphitheatre for gladiatorial contests. Another must-see attraction is the National Museum of Roman Art, which features a vast collection of Roman artifacts and boasts a modern architectural design by the renowned Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.

I particularly appreciate one of the legacies left by the Romans - their mosaics. In Mérida, traditional techniques, such as manual restoration and conservation, are still used to preserve and recreate the intricate mosaic designs found in the ancient city. Skilled artisans and conservators meticulously clean, repair, and reconstruct damaged mosaics to maintain their historical and artistic significance.
