Joshua 24:15 - Who Will You Serve?
Ken Gosnell
Let’s connect if you’re a CEO / Kingdom-minded leader / Christian business owner
I believe that there are certain Bible verses that every #ceo and #leader needs to hear. One of those verses is Joshua 24:15.
This powerful verse offers a blueprint for leading with purpose and conviction in the business world.
Joshua 24:15 states: "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
This verse was recommended by Victor Fetter , Chief Information Officer at Fortive
Let's break down this verse and explore three key principles for Christian business leaders:
The Power of Choice
CEO Experience has an axiom that states, "Your destiny will unfold in the future, but it will be shaped by the decisions you make today." Joshua presents a clear choice to the Israelites and challenges his followers to make bold choices. As business leaders, you face similar decisions daily. You will choose to serve God in your business practices, or you will bow to the "gods" of profit, market share, or public opinion.
Start each day by consciously choosing to serve God in your business decisions. Create a "decision filter" that asks, "Does this choice align with God's principles?" before making significant business moves.

The Courage of Conviction
Joshua doesn't just present a choice; he boldly declares his own stance. As Christian business leaders, you must have the courage to stand firm in your convictions, even when it goes against the grain of popular business practices.
Well Done leaders develop a clear, faith-based mission statemet for your business. Share it openly with your team, clients, and stakeholders. Let your Christian values be a known and non-negotiable aspect of your leadership.
The Influence of Leadership
Joshua speaks not just for himself, but for his entire household. As business leaders, your choices impact not just yourself, but your employees, customers, and communities.
Use this verse to help you Intentionally model servant leadership in your organization. Create mentorship programs that pass on not just business acumen, but also Christian values to the next generation of leaders in your compnay.
In my years of working with Christian CEOs, I've seen time and again that when leaders embrace these principles from Joshua 24:15, they don't just build successful companies – they create legacies of faith-driven leadership that transform lives and communities.
Remember, as Christian business leaders, you are called to a higher standard. You are not just building profitable enterprises; you are stewarding Kingdom resources. Commit to choosing God's way in your business practices, standing firm in your convictions, and leading with an influence that extends far beyond the bottom line. My prayer for you is that you will be a leader who, like Joshua, can confidently declare, "As for me and my business, we will serve the Lord."

5 个月God calls us to serve Him only through our actions, our thoughts, through our relationships and our businesses. It becomes difficult when we listen to advice from those chasing money, power and prestige. A true Servant Leader seeks first the kingdom of God. The Bible clearly says you can’t serve two masters. This is why our foundations in our profits and business plans need to be based from the fruit of the spirit.
