Josephine Ojok Replaces Peter Kawumi as the new FITSPA Uganda board chairperson

As part of its succession plan, the board of Financial Technology Service Providers’ Association of Uganda (FITSPA Uganda) has nominated Josephine Olok as the new chairperson of the Board effective 28th February 2022 who takes over from Peter Kawumi.

?“We are extremely grateful to Mr. Peter Kawumi for his exemplary leadership and service over the years steering the growth of FITSPA. During his leadership he championed the successful execution of the Africa Fintech Festivals 2019 and FITSPA Annual Fintech Conference 2020,2021 that attracted fintech leaders from Africa and beyond. FITSPA has realized significant growth in membership from 50 members to over 189members, built meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders like the Central Bank, Uganda Bankers’ Association, NITA-U, aBi Finance, International Trade Centre, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and among others,” FITSPA says in a statement, adding:

?“Peter Kawumi will continue to serve as a board member of FITSPA as the association seeks to serve all its members in ways that meet their respective needs.”?

?Josephine Olok brings a wealth of experience to the position of the Board chairperson of FITSPA. She has over 25 years in IT and has worked as a consultant and in IT Leadership positions in the Oil and Gas, Banking, Technology, Postal, Private and NGO sectors. She is the Director and Co-founder of LumJo Consultants Ltd a company established to address the gap in fit for purpose, affordable, locally available, locally developed and locally supported software in Uganda.?

?Josephine has delivered and implemented IT business strategy and digital transformation projects in several organizations including Tullow Oil (Kenya, Uganda), Barclays Bank, Equity Bank, Posta Uganda, United Nations, World Food Programme (Sarajevo, Kampala), Bank of Uganda and ICL Uganda.

?Josephine has studied, trained, and worked extensively within IT and is focused on applying that experience to non-executive board roles and to mentoring young women to empower them to take on technology. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Governance, The Boardroom Africa, and the League of East Africa Directors. She is also a Project Girls for Girls mentor, a Commonwealth Scholarship Alumni, and a board member of United Bank for Africa.

?Josephine contributed immensely since she joined the Board of FITSPA in 2020.
