Jonny & Neil Dare to Swear for MQ Mental Health Charity

Wednesday 16th August was any other day for most - Except for Richrd Bamber, a Director at Coutts and Co. Bank - it was his 55th Birthday!

He decided to celebrate by aiming to raise money for the mental health research charity MQ - ￡10 for every year of his life - what better way to do this than by getting 'the professionals' in!

I supplied the food - drink - people etc and they (attempted to) cook for us.....

In Richards own words below:

"If you are going to run a marathon or ride a long distance you might as well use all that effort for a good purpose- it's makes the achievement feel so much sweeter.

But you don't have to lift a finger - you could just 'sponsor' a social event - I did and it was a great evening.

I knew Neil from a few years back as a personal trainer but was surprised when the news broke that he was the 'Mike' who talked Jonny off of the bridge. When Coutts, where I work, firmly engaged on a programme of 'well being' Neil asked me if he could help in any way. Neil and Jonny came to speak one lunchtime which was well received and has helped the momentum of what we are doing. I then attended a Headstogther fund raiser for the guys marathon efforts and noted on the silent auction that you could bid for them to cook a meal - I asked about a summer BBQ.

So that's what we did under the 'Flaming Norma' banner - I supplied the food - drink - people etc and they (attempted to) cook for us.....as it was my birthday I suggested donations rather than bring a bottle / present."
