After hearing the sad and unfortunate news about the arrest of actor Jonathan Majors, my wife and I spent over an hour last night breaking down the therapeutic challenges that can come with being a black male from a traumatized background masterfully playing complicated (sometimes evil) characters while trying to figure out the challenges of a modern relationship.
You can find this discussion here if you'd like to join us. As a therapist and Social Work professor, my wife provides insights that teach me a lot.
But my PhD is in Finance and I saw gigantic DOLLAR SIGNS.
The last few Avengers movies have been some of the most successful films in recent history, both critically and commercially. These movies have not only broken box office records but also become cultural phenomena, captivating audiences worldwide with their stunning visual effects, action-packed sequences, and compelling storylines.
The first of these films, "The Avengers," was released in 2012 and grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of all time at the time of its release. The film brought together a star-studded cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Mark Ruffalo, and featured a plot that saw the Avengers team up to fight against the villainous Loki.
The success of "The Avengers" set the stage for a series of sequels and spin-offs that have continued to dominate the box office. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was released in 2015 and grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide. The film saw the Avengers battling against the villainous Ultron, a rogue artificial intelligence that seeks to destroy humanity.

In 2018, Marvel released "Avengers: Infinity War," which became the highest-grossing superhero film of all time, grossing over $2 billion worldwide. The film featured an epic storyline that saw the Avengers team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop the villain Thanos from collecting the six Infinity Stones and wiping out half of all life in the universe.
The final installment in the Avengers series, "Avengers: Endgame," was released in 2019 and quickly became a global sensation. The film shattered box office records, grossing over $2.7 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing the previous record held by James Cameron's "Avatar." The film brought together nearly every major character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and provided a satisfying conclusion to the storylines of many beloved characters.
The next Avengers movie is called "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," and could easily break the three billion dollar mark. Given that the star of your multi-billion dollar movie is at risk of cancellation from both the universe and the metaverse alike, I'm sure the Marvel execs are sweating bullets.
After my wife and I finished, I spoke on the financial side of Jonathan's mishaps on The Black Financial Channel here. You can also find my podcast on Spotify by searching for "The Dr Boyce Breakdown."
