Joint repair solutions
Before embarking on a joint repair solution, consider why the joint failed in the first place.
Jumping to the conclusion that an expensive bespoke repair solution is the best, maybe an expensive mistake. Consider the root cause and keep the solution simple. CoGri Group have been repairing Joints in warehouses for over 25 years and some of those earlier repairs are still in service. The first question to ask oneself is "do I have differential movement across the joint?" If you do, then fix the root cause before repairing the joint arris.
Keep the repair simple and use materials that have good ductility. If the joint is designed to move thermally, introduce a joint that will move and a joint sealant that will accommodate that movement but protect the arris. Finally, grind the floor to ensure a smooth transition. If a forklift truck feels the repair, this is impact load, which will result in further damage to the joint and Materials Handling Equipment.

6 年Interesting read Kevin. It's always best to address the root cause.

6 年Perhaps worth noting that the root cause of the failure was an epoxy that was applied by a third party over the joint which locked it and caused it to fail. Can be seen clearly in the photo but not mentioned in the article.
