Joining the Data Visualization Society

I’m excited to share some personal news: this week, I join the board of The Data Visualization Society as Director of Communications.

Since its launch in 2019 the DVS has been a pioneering organisation, building a dataviz community that boosts cross-specialty skills, forges connections and collaboratively advances our discipline. 

For me, it feels like the perfect time to get involved, having spent the last decade leading infogr8 on its mission to democratise data for everyone. 

The Data Visualization Society’s approach has struck a chord with me since the beginning, from their progressive logo – a nod to data but also the value of treating everyone as unique – to their community-driven ethos. So seeing the value they bring to their members, it’s the ideal outlet for me to continue to fulfil my personal ambition to bring good data presented beautifully to global audiences.

I’m looking forward to being a London-based voice within such a talented group of advisors and all of the members the Society is built around, alongside of course continuing my CEO duties at infogr8.

We get started this week – there are some big, bold and diverse targets to aim for and some very exciting plans in the pipeline that I can’t wait to share with the community.

One of my first goals is to bring some additional new members into the DVS Communications Committee. If you have boundless enthusiasm for data visualisation, expertise in comms and a few hours per week to provide voluntary support, I'd love to hear from you.
