UNCTAD eWEEK: EIF AND PARTNERS SESSIONS

Connecting Women at the Margins: Smart Partnerships Accelerating Inclusion in the Digital Economy

This in-person session will address the pressing issue of connecting vulnerable women to the digital economy, emphasizing the experiences of digitally underserved women entrepreneurs, including those in low- and middle-income countries, refugee camps, conflict zones, and women with disabilities. Through compelling testimonials, it will highlight key concerns for partners to address, ensuring inclusivity in digital development efforts. ?

The speakers will also explore policy recommendations and actionable steps for the active participation of marginalized women in the digital economy, drawing on collaborative efforts from partners, to showcase examples of effective multi-stakeholder approaches in bridging the digital divide.


Leveraging technologies for paperless trade in Least Developed Countries: Insights from Asia-Pacific (UNCITRAL)

This virtual session will provide insights into the priorities and actions undertaken by select Asia-Pacific Least Developed Countries (LDCs), focusing on strengthening national capacities and identifying effective mechanisms for the implementation of cross-border paperless trade. It will also explore how emerging technologies can be leveraged to accelerate trade digitalization, as well as the necessary legal reforms to support this transformation.


Leveraging national coordination mechanisms to support implementation of digital trade initiatives in Least Developed Countries

December 7, 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM

This in-person session will feature insights from National Implementation Units (NIUs) in LDCs using analytical tools like eTrade readiness assessments for capacity-building projects and tangible gains in digital trade. Partner agencies will share experiences leveraging EIF-supported institutional structures for effective eCommerce projects in LDCs. The session will also explore adapting national structures to enhance focus on eCommerce, aligning with the eWeek theme "Shaping the Future of the Digital Economy."
