Following that, Digital Realty will speak on “Defying (Data) Gravity: How to Improve your Enterprise Hybrid IT Security Posture” given by Joe Neumann, Director of Business Resilience and Business Information Security Officer, Digital Realty. By 2025, almost half of the world’s stored data could reside in the public cloud.1 By the same year, it’s estimated that over 463 exabytes of data will be created every day.2 The explosion of data growth and data gravity raises security concerns and can expose points of vulnerability. A proactive cybersecurity strategy has become an essential part of distributed IT environments that comprise on-premise and cloud-based workflows, applications and systems.?

In addition, global cybercrime costs are expected to reach over $10 trillion annually by 2025.3 Persistent cyber threats further elevate the importance of a hardened security posture. Especially since enterprises are fast becoming the world’s data steward. By 2025, 80% of data worldwide will reside in enterprises4. This will continue to increase the volume of data that needs to be aggregated and stored. A pervasive data-centric IT architecture that securely optimizes data exchange and enables connected data communities has become mission critical. This allows for integration between core, cloud and edge through cyber resilient centers of data exchange.?

A data-centric, risk-based hybrid IT security posture also needs to be adaptable and ever-evolving for business continuity – to strengthen incident prevention, initiate early detection and expedite the response to attacks.?

Following that, Source Defense, will give a talk on “Addressing the Blind-Side in 3rd party risk, the Client-Side” given by Matthew McGuirk, Solution Architect, Office of the CTO at Source Defense.?

With all of your focus and investment on 3rd party risk management, there is likely still a blind-side that remains unaddressed. It is an area that should be moved to the top of your priority list - both for its potential to cause material losses in the form of response costs and fines and judgements, and for the ease in which it can be mitigated. It is a risk introduced by the 3rd party vendors you rely upon (and the nth parties they work with) to power and enhance your website. The threat of JavaScript based attacks - click-jacking, digital skimming, formjacking, defacement, "Magecart" - exists for any organization collecting sensitive data or conducting transactions through their web properties. Attacks of this type have done damage to some of the biggest brands in the world - costing household names like British Airways tens of millions - and they happen by the hundreds per month. Already in 2022, we've seen headlines of major client-side attacks like the one that hit Segway - potentially impacting nearly a million consumers.

This is an area of exposure introduced through your own code, and by your partners, that can only be addressed at the client-side. It remains widely unaddressed, as focus in website security to this point has been on securing the server side.?

Join us for an exploration of the threat of these attacks, real-world examples of the material impact they have caused, and dialogue on the approaches to mitigating this risk with pros and cons of each.???

Next, TigerGraph, will speak on “Accelerate AI projects with Graph Analytics – a faster path to production and shorter time to value” given by Steve Matthews, Sales Engineering Manager with TigerGraph. Gartner famously stated in 2017 that 85% of data science projects fail. Many reasons have been put forward for the dismal success rate, and most commentators agree that the cultural obstacles are the most intractable: everything takes too long, and businesses can’t afford to wait. Too often, initiatives lose momentum and executive sponsors lose patience.??

Graph analytics is not just technically powerful, it also breaks down cultural barriers because it reflects the way people think, how we see patterns in data, and how we use those patterns to inform our decisions and actions. Perhaps most importantly, graphs enable business users to get started with the imperfect data that they have, not the perfectly cleansed data that they would like.
