Join us in an ongoing dialogue in strategic watershed management! Dow's #Water Blueprint

Water scarcity impacts 40 percent of people around the world, a sobering statistic that is projected to increase with the rise of global warming. Achieving the UN’s Sustainability Development Goal 6 of ensuring safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030 will require collaboration across sectors that sometimes compete for resources today. To preserve our right to operate and support the growth of our communities, Dow has spent a couple of decades working on reducing and reusing water in our operations globally. However, we began to realize that we needed to go a step further to make a breakthrough at our sites in water-stressed regions. We came to realize that collaboration with the stakeholders in our watersheds is an absolute must.

By telling the story of these collaborations, we hope to inspire and catalyze collective action by a variety of stakeholders in watersheds around the world. For us, our watershed management blueprint is about ensuring water for all, through collaborations that clearly define the win for each stakeholder. Take the example of the successful watershed collaboration at our Terneuzen site in The Netherlands. What started as a shared commitment to better resource management has grown into a growing public-private partnership with strong environmental and economic outcomes. We hope the collaboration can serve as a model of engagement between industry and municipalities.

We urge you to join our watershed blueprint efforts and to help us create a community of practice around our watershed stewardship efforts. Our vision is that through our Dow 2025 Blueprint Goal, we inspire watershed stakeholders around the world to forge collaborations to sustainably manage scarce freshwater that is vital to life on this planet.
