Innovation Week In Mexico City

During the week of March 28, 2023, health experts, prominent academics, government officials, and pharma executives from around the world came together in Mexico City for at?Innovation Week .?Innovation Week is an annual event organized by the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF) that brings together the most important national and international research-based pharma companies to support the development of new therapies. Conversations at Innovation Week revolve around some of the most important issues on the public health agenda and promote dialogue among all sectors in the health ecosystem.

AMIIF was founded in 1950 and today represents more than 60 pharma companies with a local and global presence. AMIIF is a key player in innovation in healthcare in Mexico. Members are leaders in pharma and biotech who are committed to the development of new medicines and therapeutics. AMIIF promotes dialogue between the pharma industry and members of the health ecosystem including government institutions, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, health authorities, and international organizations.

AI in Public Health: Innovations of immediate application

On March 29th I joined Héctor Valle, Executive President of FUNSALUD?and Estefanía Ustarroz Wood from the Embassy of Israel in Mexico, for a conversation about near term applications of AI in public health. The Mexican Foundation for Health (FUNSALUD) includes over a 100 companies and entrepreneurs committed to public health. FUNSALUD has distinguished itself by identifying health problems in Mexico and generating solutions through public policy proposals. FUNSALUD also conducts analysis and evaluation of health issues, promotes scientific research, and trains high-level human resources.

Innovation Week Program

This year at Innovation Week, experts addressed many topics including: noncommunicable diseases and gender equity, mental health, ethics in access to health, the patient at the center, participation of civil society, the use of artificial intelligence and new technologies, and patents and intellectual property protection.
