The BDC is ready to begin deploying capital in women-led businesses from its $35 million envelope following the announcement of 25 co-investment partners! The program is part of a $100 million CAD five year plan to invest in 100 Canadian women-led businesses.

Ankur Walia of Closet Spice
Meet Ankur Walia , founder of Closet Spice ! Ankur's journey began in 2012 when he left his home in India to pursue a post-graduate degree in Kitchener, ON. In their small apartment, he and his partner struggled with limited space and maintaining an organized closet. This challenge ignited Ankur's passion for closet organization, eventually leading to the birth of Closet Spice in 2016, initially funded by a credit card. For the first few years, Ankur balanced his 9-to-5 job while dedicating his free time to nurturing his small business. In 2018, after experiencing two successful years as an Amazon seller, which he considers the backbone of his entrepreneurial path, Ankur made a pivotal decision. He chose to commit all his time and energy to Closet Spice and hasn't looked back since. Today, Closet Spice's products are available both online and in physical stores, all under Ankur's adept management, handling operations, accounting, and customer relations, from the heart of Mississauga, ON.
