Join Us for the First Annual BioBlitz at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park! ????

We're thrilled to announce our inaugural BioBlitz event, happening on Saturday 27 July. Families, individuals, and community groups are all invited to come together with wildlife experts and enthusiasts to explore and record the rich biodiversity that thrives in our parklands, cultivated since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

?? What to Expect:

?? Discover our Habitats:

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park boasts 10 distinct habitat types, including wildflower meadows, woodlands, and wetlands. These diverse areas are home to a variety of rare plants and animals, such as the streaked bombardier beetle, black redstarts, sand martins, black poplar trees, reed buntings, the brown-banded carder bee, cetti’s warbler, and seven species of bats.

Highlights:

  • Over 300,000 wetland plants and 150 bat boxes contribute to our thriving ecosystem.
  • More than 544 bird boxes provide essential homes for our avian residents.
  • Our expansive 48 hectares of new habitat offer ample space for wildlife to thrive.

Ruth Lin Wong Holmes , Head of Landscape and Public Realm at London Legacy Development Corporation , expresses her enthusiasm: "Hosting our first BioBlitz is truly exciting. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gather important data while enjoying the incredible natural beauty of the Park. It's also a great way to connect people with nature, and events like this help us share fascinating stories about our local wildlife."

Don't miss out on this chance to learn and connect with nature, while contributing to important conservation efforts. Mark your calendars for July 27th and join us at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for a day of exploration and biodiversity! ????
