CONVERSATIONS ON ADVANCING GIRLS IN ICT WITH WOMEN SHAPING THE FUTURE

On the fourth Thursday in April each year, UN Women is joining with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to promote girls and supporters of girls education around the world to mark International Girls in ICT Day, drawing attention to the critical need for more girls and women in the ICT sector. With technology and innovation driving jobs in the future, supporting the education of women and girls in the ICTs will set them up for economic independence and achieve gender equality.

-         Walk-thru testing, digital thermometer, and chest x-ray tests helped locating the virus and achieving Industry Innovation goal.

-         Mobile apps that record location history helped tracking the virus and achieving Good Health goal.

ITU, as the leading United Nations agency for telecommunications and ICTs, encourages and works toward gender balance in the ICT sector at all levels, through many initiatives, including the EQUALS Global Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital Age, a global, multi-stakeholder partnership committed to closing the gender digital divide.
