Join us for Career Week at ACCES

ACCES Employment is holding its first-ever Career Week on January 23-27, 2023! Will you be there? Career Week is a way for newcomers to the Canadian workforce and seasoned jobseekers to participate in real-world interactions with industry professionals, gain invaluable insights from guest speakers, and build a professional community. This event is a mix of virtual and in-person activities held at 489 College Street, suite 100 (all event links are listed below).

Some jobseekers may hesitate to attend Career Week. The feeling might be, “I can look for jobs online, so why bother?” While conducting your job search online is beneficial, there are many advantages to attending Career Week at ACCES that you won’t receive by simply scrolling a job board.

Face-to-face time with employers

Walking into an interview and meeting a potential employer can be scary. For many jobseekers, that initial introduction is the hardest part of the process. Attending Career Week allows you meet employers and gives you an opportunity to work through your nerves and build your confidence. Here’s your chance to practice your elevator pitch and soft skills in a less formal setting.

Dressing for success

As the old expression goes, “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” If you attend our in-person events during Career Week you can present your professional side through wardrobe. The confidence you gain from approaching a potential employer while dressed professionally with a smile and a firm handshake cannot be replicated on a computer. Bring your best clothes and use Career Week to practice presenting yourself with ease.

Networking

Building a professional network is crucial to finding a job and provides a sense of belonging. Career Week at ACCES will be filled with employers and other jobseekers like you who understand how daunting finding a job in a new country can be. Use this opportunity to show hiring managers how skilled you are and build amazing connections and contacts from with friends who can help you find a job down the road.

1-on-1 coaching

Career Week offers you more than just meeting potential employers. Join us in-person and receive onsite job coaching; prescreening, first round, and informational interviews; advice and help with your cover letter and resume; on-the-spot interview coaching; and full registration to our Employment Connections program. You can also enjoy free swag and refreshments!
