Join us in allowing street children to experience the joy and togetherness of the festive season!

Dear Friend,?

Welcome to this quarter's edition of our Bring Joy to Street Children Newsletter.

As the festive season approaches, we are filled with joy. We are looking forward to some days off, spending time with our family and loved ones, decorating our homes, and preparing meals. We reflect on the current year and make vows on new habits, for a better 2025, so that our dreams come true! For street children and their families in Ghana with their daily life struggles, the festive season is often the opposite- one of sadness and loneliness.? ?

The current economic situation in Ghana is challenging, with rising food, water, and electricity prices and as the elections approach, the welfare of children is often overlooked. Many families with children on the streets face increased stress as they struggle to survive, yet they still wish to provide their children with even a simple meal in this season. Other children are entirely alone, often suppressing painful thoughts of family and home during this season. ?

Many street children have lost trust in others because of the difficult circumstances they faced in their past, including neglect, exploitation, and abuse. They've lost hope for?a possible change in their lives. Our dedicated social workers bring hope and perspective. Every day they are on the street and meet the children. They meet them when they are sad, hurt, or lonely, address their challenges, restore trust, bring them together with relatives, and back to school. Our team builds strengthening relationships with family and community members. It enables them to care for their children so that they are happy to remain in the families and the communities.??

Ama's journey to joy and togetherness!?

In 2014, at just 6 years old, Ama moved with her mother and sister from Dambai to Accra, hoping for a better life after a difficult marriage. They ended up in a crowded market area, selling chewing sticks and gum on the streets and dropping out of school. Later that year, CFC’s Street team met?Ama and introduced her to our Drop-in Centre.

From 2014 to 2017, she attended classes there before moving to our Hebron Girls Home, where she finally started formal schooling. Later, she was reunited with her mother in Kpassa, but the lack of good schools made continuing her education difficult. CFC assisted. Ama and her family in relocating back to Dambai and enabled the mother to take care of the children.

Today, Ama is back in school at Heroes Success Complex School and is currently in Basic 8 in Dambai. She now lives together with her mother and sister in a modest home, finally getting the chance to enjoy a safe and stable childhood and getting ready to celebrate the festive season.?Street children like Ama need your support.

Thank you for your compassion during this season of giving. With your support, street children can also experience joy in the festive season and focus on achieving their dreams in the new year! ?

With warm and joyful greetings,

Daniela Ruedisueli Sodjah.?

Executive Director (CFC).?

Outlook 2025?

We aim to expand our outreach to Tema and Kasoa, both around 30km kilometers east and west of Accra.? This is where there are meanwhile lots of street children. They have moved to these places because Tema and Kasoa are two of the fast-growing towns in Ghana, where sales and services flourish.?

In Tema, many of these children work at the fishing harbor, engaging in fishing-related activities. Whereas in both Tema and Kasoa, they engage in various street-based work like selling pure water, and scrap metals, carrying items in the markets, and, sadly, some get caught up in commercial sex work.?

In 2025, we will establish a team of social workers in each city.?Our goal is to support children in returning to school and finding stable living arrangements with relatives as well as strengthen?the entire communities to care for their children.??

Companies also helped by leading warm-up exercises and supporting the cause in multiple ways!?
