Following the announcement of the election, we are pleased to announce the following changes to our speaker line up to help you chart your Brexit Blueprint and in the light of the election separate Brexit fact from fiction…
With the election giving the nation a chance to vote on the approach to Brexit and many other issues, our first Brexit Blueprint event, taking place on 9 May 2017 in London, could not be more timely.
Just a month before the election and with so many claims already being made about Brexit in the media, the revised first event in our series will help you get a clear picture of the Brexit process, see what the options are for business and leave you with tips to ensure that your Brexit plans are as advanced as they should be. Stripping away the rhetoric and 'alternative facts', we will be exploring what the position that the UK is taking will mean for you, the impact of the election – both here and in other EU member states, and explore why you should not postpone your Brexit preparations until after the election and finally what the Great Repeal Bill will mean for how you are regulated and why you need to be planning for this now.
To help you chart your path, our speakers will be:
- NEW Iain Wright MP – as the Chairman of the Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee, a former Labour Minister and former Shadow Business Minister, Ian Wright is perfectly placed to give you insight into the workings of Westminster and how the work of the Select Committee on Brexit and other issues – including workers rights – can impact your business.
- NEW Lord Callanan - A former MEP and leader of the third largest party in the EU Parliament, Lord Callanan joined the House of Lords in 2014 as a Conservative peer. He has been part of the Information Committee, the Trade Union Political Funds and Political Party Funding Committee and is currently a member of the EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee. He will bring this unparalleled insight into the workings of the EU and what life will look like for business on the outside.
- Professor Tony Travers, London School of Economics - on the Brexit Blueprint for London and what it means for your governance
- Hilary Ross, DWF Partner – our 3 top tips for your Brexit Blueprint
After the main session there will be an optional sector focused Brexit Masterclass roundtable session allowing you to explore in more detail with our experts the issues impacting the Retail, Food and Hospitality sector or the Insurance and Financial Services sectors.
