Join my Mastermind (and next Adventure) in 2023

In this newsletter, I typically share one leadership tip, one public speaking tip, and one adventure.

My leadership tips usually come from the Mastermind calls I host 4x a week. A member this morning was mulling two job opportunities, unsure of which would take her leadership to the next step. I asked, "Have you ever made a decision tree?"

"Tell me more about that," she replied.

We spent the hour mind-mapping out the pros and cons of each job offer.

"What's coming through for you, now that we have dumped the proverbial purse on the table in search of those elusive keys?"

Her comfort zone has been to stay in the technical and 'do-er' role versus stepping into the 'leadership and strategic role.'

We concluded that journaling first thing in the morning is critical. Even though we are asleep, our subconscious minds continue to work through those niggling problems with no solutions. Dr. Ben Hardy talks about the 'braindump' first thing in the morning to record those sometimes innovative solutions on paper. We also came to the conclusion that building in more whitespace and down time is key.

I can't speak enough about the latter.

I'm back from a week in Sicily. The main event was a performance at the Palermo Opera House. I parlayed the trip into a solo vacation for the week. I've become a 'we' in the last 5 years, and so vacations are typically with my partner. I host adventures as part of my leadership programming for my women's platform, so I'm perennially in service of groups of 7 or 30. To walk the cobble stoned streets of Palermo alone, with just my thoughts to keep me warm, was tremendous. Ideas fluttered up as I dined alone. My journal pages filled with solutions unrealized. I marvelled and marvelled at things, living both my top values of adventure and beauty.

In fact, digging into our core values is the very first exercise members of the Samita Lab Mastermind will do when the 2023 cohort kicks off January 21st. I host a #mastermindgroup for women leaders looking to build a brand in 2023. This year's adventures include Copenhagen, Tuscany, Turkey. Apply here https://bit.ly/3WURgN5

PUBLIC SPEAKING TIP

Tired of feeling like you have nothing to say when called to speak or anything anyone wants to hear?

Instead of stumbling through your next impromptu speech and feeling it was 'good enough' have so much impact that people can't stop reaching out to you.

ADVENTURE TIP

This week, I transition from Italy opera fashion to Ski Chalet fashion. Myself and a few members of my women's leadership platform head upstate to ring in Martin Luther King weekend with some good ol fashioned skiing and snow hiking.

Contrary to belief, ski trips don't have to break the bank. In this article, I share what I am packing and where I sourced each item from.

Folks ask, "Joya, why so obsessed with what you will wear."

As I learned in TV and later in sales training as an entrepreneur, prepare for every scenario.

Have it in your toolbox. Then, its much easier to get down to the business of doing the THING you set out to do.
