Join the Movement: Support The Mission Continues on Veterans Day of Giving!

"Only by helping others can we truly help ourselves." Sebastian Junger

As a proud veteran and leader of our military colleague resource group, I wanted to share an incredible opportunity with you all. We have partnered with The Mission Continues, an organization on a mission to connect veterans with under-resourced communities, creating lasting impact together.

The Mission Continues empowers veterans to become community leaders, providing them with continued opportunities to serve locally and nationally. Through their programs, veteran volunteers work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and so much more.

I've had the pleasure of knowing Mary Beth Bruggeman, MPM , President of The Mission Continues since we attended the George W. Bush Veteran Leadership Program together. While many people know the work of her organization bringing veterans together to serve their local communities, less people are aware of the work they do to support women veterans. When they realized the unique challenges faced by women veterans and having a large number in their ranks, they created a veteran leadership program.

This Veterans Day, on November 10, 2023, The Mission Continues is launching their very first Veterans Day of Giving, supported by CVS Health . It's a one-time opportunity to participate in a new movement that raises awareness and inspires support for our nation's veterans.

As we move further away from the events of September 11th, 2001, and the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the national consciousness has shifted away from the challenges facing veterans. Unfortunately, there has also been a decrease in veteran-focused philanthropic dollars. However, the impact of military service on our nation's veterans remains profound. The mental and physical effects can be permanent and life-altering, with suicide being the second-leading cause of death for post-9/11 veterans.

Our veterans have given so much to protect our country, and they deserve to be remembered and supported. That's why I urge you all to join me in supporting The Mission Continues on Veterans Day of Giving. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that veterans are not forgotten.

Let's start a movement and honor the sacrifices our nation's veterans have made. Mark your calendars for November 10, 2023, and let's come together to raise awareness and inspire support for those who have served our country. Together, we can transform communities and create a brighter future for all.

I always say there are a lot of communities, but the one community that defies race color, creed social status of boundaries is the VA community. #veteransfirts #community
