1. Donald, tell us a bit about your career path and how you joined IFC???

I joined IFC upon graduation from business school as a Young Professional (YP) following a successful MBA summer internship there. Prior to graduate school, I had spent four years in the Africa division of the Heineken Group, based in Amsterdam.?

After a first YP rotation in the infrastructure department, I did a second rotation in the global tourism, retail and property team, where I then stayed as an investment officer working on several exciting transactions mostly in Southeastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa. I then joined the Agribusiness investment team in Abidjan where I spent four great years covering C?te d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, Mali and Sierra Leone. After returning to Washington, I recently decided to take a break from investment operations and take on a new role as IFC’s Young Professionals Program Manager. As you can see, it’s been a great journey that took me to different regions and departments of our institution.?

2. What is the Global Internship Program and what are the timelines for this year???

The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the GIP provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.?

For the year 2022, the application period will be from Monday, February 7th to Monday, March 7th. A list of positions and descriptions will be advertised on the GIP page and in our career site when they become live. Selected candidates will be contacted directly by departments for interviews between Monday, March 21st to Friday, April 29th.??
