Join the Growing Garden's Tuesday Tea in the Tunnel

A couple of weeks ago, iMap's Growing Garden hosted its first Tea in the Tunnel event, inviting members of the local community for a Tuesday filled with fresh air and a range of well-being activities.

In the brisk Autumnal air, members of the local community, Janet, Robert, and Sally, visited the Growing Garden for its first Tea in the Tunnel event - which will be held at least once a month on Tuesdays.

Charlie Hathaway, the leader of the Growing Garden project, explained the day's activities, stating that...

"We had a lovely time walking around the garden in the crisp Autumnal air, meeting and greeting three individuals from the local community over a cup of tea to share the progress and future aspirations of our project with them."
"It was great! Not only were we able to show the Growing Garden's development, but we were also able to hear their stories from the local villages and how they have evolved over the years."
"The area surrounding the Barrowmore Estate has a great sense of community spirit, fostered by all of the clubs, societies, and projects its residents are involved in. It is a really wholesome feeling to become a part of such a well established local society, and I hope that we can tempt even more people to join us for Tea in the Tunnel!

One of the progress updates shared with the group in the Growing Gardens is the prospective link with the local horticultural society, as well as the idea to create a specially-designed autism-friendly space within the garden.

In return for the offer of a brew and biscuits in the warmth of the polytunnel, our gracious attendees have offered donations of jostaberry and raspeberry canes.

Please feel free to join us for the next Tea in the Tunnel event on Tuesday the 5th of December at 10:00 am. We'd love to see you!
