Eye-Catching Innovation: The Ordinary's Bold Stance Against Black Friday

Skincare brand The Ordinary has made waves with its "Slowvember" campaign, offering a refreshing perspective on Black Friday. In a move that stands out in a sea of discount-driven marketing, the skincare brand challenges consumers to rethink impulsive buying, promoting mindful purchases instead.

The clever out-of-home (OOH) ads feature minimalist designs with cheeky copy, such as “Buy 1, Get 2… For the price of 3” and a playful warning to beware of Black Friday deals. Rather than hopping on the sales bandwagon, The Ordinary promotes its consistent 23% off throughout November, emphasising the value of mindfulness over flash sales. This is where creative copy truly works hand-in-hand with branding and marketing, reinforcing the brand's message and values.

This campaign positions The Ordinary as a brand that values authenticity and consumer well-being, promoting honesty, transparency, and thoughtful decisions. By shifting the focus from sales-driven urgency to purposeful decisions, The Ordinary shows how business owners can stand out in a crowded market and build lasting connections with their audience through creative, values-driven marketing.

How do you create meaningful connections with your audience?

Podcast of the Month: The Chromologist

As a creative, I’m fascinated by the impact of colour across different cultures. The Chromologist podcast offers incredible insights into how colour shapes our emotions and experiences (it’s fascinating how much colour affects us without us even realising, isn’t it?). The podcast is a valuable resource for business owners aiming to deepen their brand’s connection with clients. Hosted by Farrow & Ball’s colour expert Patrick O’Donnell, the podcast taps into the powerful role colour plays in shaping emotions, spaces, and brand identities.

Patrick explores colour’s impact with creatives—from a trailblazing party founder sharing the hues of PRIDE, to a colour therapist discussing how shades like citron yellow enhance well-being, and a Michelin-star chef inspired by Australia’s deep greens and soft pinks in her restaurant.

How can you use colour more intentionally in your business to create memorable experiences and connect with your audience on a deeper level?

Creative ID In The UAE

adidas has redefined creativity and innovation with its region-exclusive Adizero Desert Runner collection. Inspired by the UAE’s iconic desert landscapes, this groundbreaking design merges advanced running technology with the natural world. To mark the launch, adidas collaborated with renowned artist David Popa, unveiling a breathtaking, eco-conscious 100-metre anamorphic art installation in Sharjah’s Al Madam desert. This one-of-a-kind piece reflects the shoe’s durability, adaptability, and energy while celebrating the untamed spirit of the desert.

By tying the Adizero Desert Runner to the region’s unique identity, adidas strengthens its connection to local audiences while delivering a globally compelling narrative. The anamorphic art elevates the launch into a visually stunning, Instagram-worthy moment that bridges innovation and emotion. This is a powerful example of how brands can use environmental consciousness, cultural relevance, and cutting-edge creativity to craft unforgettable, multi-dimensional experiences that resonate deeply.

How are you combining innovation and storytelling to make your brand stand out and connect?

Until next time,

Vaishali
