John Sisk & Son Awards for Construction Management Students

Declan Gahan of Ireland’s leading building contractor, John Sisk & Son, was in WIT recently to present their annual award for Excellence in Project Management & Research. This prestigious award recognises outstanding performance in the final year Dissertation of the BSc (Hons) in Construction Management & Engineering. Each of the award winners conducted a significant piece of academic research into a topic of current interest in the construction industry. The recipients of the awards and their topics were as follows:

• Emmett Aylward: Building Information Modelling for Quality Management
• Jian Seng Soh: Environmental Management Systems in Construction
• Killian Harris: An Analysis of Burnout Amongst Construction Project Managers

The students delivered a synopsis of their research to Declan Gahan, WIT lecturing staff and their fellow students, prior to being presented with their awards. Declan commended the students for the quality of their research and noted the importance and relevance of all of the topics to the Irish construction sector at present. Course leader Brian Graham, concluded the event by thanking Sisk for their long-standing support of the awards and the Construction Management & Engineering programme. He also congratulated the award winners and wished all of the students well in their final exams and future careers in construction
