John 18: OBJECTIVE: We Proclaim the Gospel, Despite being Rejected
Hello Everyone, it has been a while since I posted on this website. I thank the Lord Jesus for giving me an interim preaching job at The Homecoming Church on East Trimmier Road in southern Killeen, TX. I had stopped at John Chapter 17 a few years back. Not coincidently, the job started on the 18th Sunday of the year. So below is the information garnished by the PowerPoint created by Brenda Fields. It does not include the whole worship service PowerPoint she created. I pray the saints are edified and the sinners are convicted.
A) OBJECTIVE:
We Proclaim the Gospel, Despite being Rejected
John 18: 1-40 ?NKJV
B) 1 Samuel 8:7
And the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
C) There are generally three types of rejection:
?1) Outright (by the wicked one)
?2) Oppressed (by tribulation)
?3) Opulent (by the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches)

D) Parable of the Sower?????Matt. 13:18-23
"Therefore hear the parable of the sower: "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand [it], then the wicked [one] comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.?Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands [it], who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
E) Acts 13:46 - Outright Rejection
Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.
F) Oppressed Rejection
“Governor Pliny, around 100 A.D. wrote to Emperor Trajan, '…I asked them whether they were Christians; if they admitted it, I repeated the question twice, and threatened them with punishment; if they persisted, I ordered them punished…'"
G) Acts 24: 24-26 - Opulent Rejection
?"And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, 'Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.' Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and conversed with him."
H) No matter the reason, we proclaim the Gospel, despite being rejected.
In Christ, Ed Hulse
