The webinar, titled "How to Choose a Trusted Contract Manufacturing Partner for Balancing Cost & Quality," featured an esteemed panel of speakers who provided deep insights into the dynamics of the medical device contract manufacturing industry. The speakers included Mr. Saket Vaishnav, Sales & Marketing Head and Moderator; Mr. Dilkash Mohammed, Product Engineering Head; Mr. Preetesh Bhandari, Chief Operating Officer with expertise in Supply Chain Management, and Mr. Sabyasachi Nath, Chief Quality Officer.
The webinar began with Mr. Saket Vaishnav setting the context by highlighting the evolving relationship between Medical Device Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). He emphasized the growing trust in CMOs, particularly in the post-COVID-19 era, where they have proven to be invaluable partners during challenging times. The global medical device contract manufacturing market is projected to reach USD 118.9 billion in 2027, highlighting the industry's significant growth potential.
Mr. Saket Vaishnav, drawing from her extensive experience heading Business development for a CMO, emphasized the key benefits of partnering with a dependable contract manufacturer. Mr. Preetesh Bhandari, the Chief Operating Officer, shared valuable learning from the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted the manufacturing supply chain, including the medical device industry. He highlighted the challenges faced by global medical device OEMs and how successful CMOs adapted and emerged from these testing times. Key areas of focus included supply chain management during crises, shortage handling, robust supplier management processes, ongoing supplier relationship management, and the role of technology in supply chain management. The emergence of India as an emerging medical device manufacturing destination was also discussed.
Mr. Sabyasachi Nath, the Chief Quality Officer, highlighted the critical aspect of quality management systems (QMS) in medical device manufacturing. He emphasized the importance of efficient QMS, evolved documentation systems, regulatory assistance, and shared past experiences and capabilities in maintaining high-quality standards. The changing landscape of cybersecurity norms related to AI, ML, and IoT-based medical devices was also explored.
