Jobseekers on LinkedIn - Handy tip
I felt it worth sharing this quick tip to help anyone who has fallen victim to redundancy and is now actively looking for work:
This is specifically for those of you who have changed the bit that appears beneath your name (which LinkedIn refers to as your ‘professional headline’), to “seeking new opportunities”, “immediately available”, “looking for work” and other variants.
You may not realise, but this is the first section that a key-word search will check. So if a recruiter or employer is seeking someone to fulfil a vacancy and uses job titles as their search, it is highly likely you’ll be missed.
Don’t worry, though, it’s a really easy fix. Simply put your job title and/or profession before you add “seeking new opportunities” / “available” etc.
Quick examples:
“Project Manager – seeking new opportunities”
“HSE professional – seeking new opportunities”
Or if you have multiple skills, something like:
“design engineer / project engineer / mechanical engineer – available”
You get the idea.
Please like this post so that all your connections can see it too, there are literally thousands of people using LinkedIn who have changed their status and not included their job title or profession, and so should find this useful.
