#JobSearchTip – The Importance of Planning

Searching for a job is not something you do when you feel like it or with a casual attitude towards it – it’s a job in and of itself! So, if you’re actively on the market for new opportunities, be sure you have a solid game plan that you’re going to implement to get you closer to that #JobOffer – here are some tips to help you:
1) Have a daily plan: Schedule your day so you have specific times to which you do nothing but dedicate yourself to your job search. If you’re currently unemployed, this means you have a lot more time to do this. If you’re currently employed, you might have to work some time in outside of work hours. Whatever your situation – make it a part of your schedule!
2) Related to #1 above – be sure to execute your daily plan….uh....DAILY! Consistency is key here – don’t be sporadic; stick to your job search routine day in and day out, yes even on those days when you feel like you’re getting nowhere. You don’t need to feel motivated – you need to keep taking action, regardless of how you feel!
3) Keep track. Pay close attention to those actions and avenues you take which lead to phone calls and interviews – whatever you’re doing to get those, keep doing them! Make adjustments to the things you’re doing which you feel aren’t getting you results or possibly holding you back.
4) Make use of working with a #StaffingAgency. Aside from helping you skip the “ATS Abyss” and getting you in front of actual decision makers at companies looking for someone with your background, working with a great Agency is a huge time-saver. This is especially true when you’re currently employed and do not have the time to follow-up with an employer you’ve interviewed with or you want someone else to do the “persuading” and “closing” so you get an offer on the table.
5) Be an expert on YOU. Refresh yourself on your resume/CV - that's the material the #Recruiter or anyone you're speaking to during your job search will most probably have in front of them when they call you, and its what they'll be referring to during their conversation with you - so you better be very familiar with it! Go over your recent projects and especially the stand-out projects you've completed and be prepared to speak of them. As you speak to more people, you'll figure out which aspects of your pitch you may need to make adjustments - make those adjustments and keep it going!
Bottom line, my message to you is this: whatever your job search strategy – be consistent in taking action daily!
