The Job Stories Newsletter - Issue #9
Hi Ya'll! Welcome to our weekly roundup. I’m Mason from?Weld Recruiting,?and this is the 9th edition of The Job Stories Newsletter.
Trevor Hinesley is this week's feature on the newsletter, which is fitting as I just had the pleasure of being around Trevor this week at the Web3 Wondr'y event. Trevor was one of the panelist to discuss the creator economy, and what that looks like for folks using (and not using) blockchain technology.
Trevor is making creators' lives easier as Co-founder and CTO of Soundstripe, where they have taken the business from bootstrapped and working out of a bedroom, to being named Inc. 5000's 68th fastest-growing company in America - via the Nashville Biz Journal. Make sure and check out his episode below!
And follow along on Spotify to hear more insights from our Job Stories guests:

Mike’s Leadership Advice - "Trust"
The definition?of Trust?is "the assured reliance?on the character, ability, strength or the truth of someone or something." It means that we believe?that someone is good and honest and will not harm us or that something is safe and reliable.
Trust?is vital for any organization to succeed; families, businesses, churches, schools, and teams must be made up of people who trust each other. Trust is the foundation of all relationships and therefore?it takes time and intentional effort to build. As a Leader, you just can't walk in the door and expect everyone in the organization to trust you. Honestly, why should they? How do they know that you genuinely have their?best interests?at heart and that you will not harm them. Trust can be built and here are a few ideas:
1. Connect through understanding. People do not trust us when we understand them; they trust us?when they understand?that we understand them.?It is not enough that we care about those we are leading but what is essential is that?they know we truly care about them.?I have known Coaches that I believe?really cared about their?Athletes but if you asked the Athletes, they would probably say that their?Coach hated their guts. Lots of children have grown up wondering if their Father?really cared about them; employees go to work everyday wondering if their supervisor even knows their?name; Parents?don't?trust Teachers; Teachers don't trust Administrators and Administrators?don't?trust School?Boards. We must build relationships in order to build trust.
2.?Keep your word.?"I meant what I said and I said what I meant; an Elephant's faithful 100 percent." -?Horton Hears a Who. The people that you lead need to know that when you say something, they can believe?it, rely upon it and act accordingly. If they doubt that you really meant what you said, they are not going to follow through with what you asked them to do. Their actions are going to be half-hearted and unproductive. Leaders must keep their?promises, honor their?commitments, and speak truthfully. A Leader's?words and their?actions have to align in a consistent manner.
3.?Show respect. People will withhold trust from people who disrespect?them. People can detect inauthenticity. Leaders?must genuinely?care about and value the people they lead. Leaders who "look down" on the people they are leading are ineffective and unproductive.
4.?Communicate and exhibit good intentions.?When people know that we have good intentions concerning them, they will begin to trust us. When we know that someone is "for" us and wants to help us, we begin to trust them. We will cooperate?with them; we will work hard for them; we will give to them. But when we don't?believe?that they have good intentions toward us, we develop the belief that they are only "for" themselves and our relationship becomes adversarial and territorial.?
Do the people that you are leading know that they can trust you? Keep Leading, MM
"Trust is the glue of life. It's the most essential ingredient?in effective communication. It's the foundational principle that holds all relationships.?- Stephen Covey.?
