No Job Site Analysis = BIG OSHA FINES

No Job Site Analysis = BIG OSHA FINES

OSHA requires that employers document and certify a “Hazard Assessment” for each job as part of the PPE Standard, called a Job Site Analysis.

This is a basic requirement of OSHA, yet few employers perform or document these hazard assessments thus putting themselves at risk for significant fines and penalties.

Job Site Analysis (JSA) is the process of taking a close, critical look at each step of a process or operation in regards to identifying and correcting the hazards or potential accidents in each step.

It’s a simple technique which creates a “buy-in” on the part of people doing the job and ensures that they will do the job the same way and safely each time.

A JSA can also be conducted as part of the planning for a new job or process.

The benefits of a JSA of existing jobs are many:

  • Many accident-causing hazards are eliminated;
  • It provides a standard, written, carefully considered, safe directions for how to do the job for use in job orientation/training;
  • It allows for refresher instructions on infrequent/periodic jobs;
  • Employees, teams, and supervisors understand how the total job is done;
  • Job methods improve, efficiency increases, quality is enhanced…and costs drop.

Good info,! Perhaps drug use is an "accident causing hazard" as well?? Half of all accidents are caused by substance abuse. Random testing has great merit but is rarely preached.
