Job Search strategy advice

I am mentoring one of my LinkedIn connections and wanted to share here our discussions to help other jobseekers and get advice/opinions from other professionals.

Skype discussion (session1):

Theresa: I applied to hundreds of jobs offers and get zero feedback, it’s really  frustrating.

Me: I understand your feeling, I was looking for job earlier in my career and it’s not easy to search for job nowdays.

Theresa: No one is answering to me, is that normal practice?

Me: Completely normal, Recruiter are busy people, they can’t answer to all applicants.

Theresa: Many posts on LinkedIn are saying this is not professional.

Me: Don’t believe “Likes” chasers, many people here are posting what you like to hear and not what you need to hear...

Recruiters owe you nothing, they are being paid by their clients not by you, their job is to dedicate their energy and resources to the candidate they selected... 

In a perfect world, they will probably give feedback to all job seekers helping them to improve their search strategy and correct their mistakes....  but we live in the real world.

Theresa: What should I do in this case?

Me:  Here my advice for today’s session:

“Don’t take it personally and work on yourself to handle rejections”
