Job Search in November

It's the holiday season soon, but you shouldn't slow down your job search. Many companies need to use up their budgets or tie up loose ends before the end of the year - including hiring for positions still open. Not to mention that many people put their job searches on hold over November and December to focus on family and celebrations – which means less competition for those who continue searching. The right opportunity might be just out there - keep pushing.
?
How can you make your job search more productive?
?
? If you haven't already, decide on your target role (job title) and rewrite, design, and tailor your resume accordingly.
?
? Apply strategically to job postings where you match all the qualification requirements.
?
? Use your network and connections you already have or advance your networking skills.
?
? Make your resume and LinkedIn profile really stand out, and send the right message about you.
?
? Think about your interview skills – do you need some improvement there?
?
? If you are not getting interviews, analyse your job search activities and see if you could change anything.
?
Don't waste your energy on things you can't change; focus on those in your power.
?
"How do I look compared to other applicants?"
?
You might be torturing yourself with this question after rejections… Many think that adding more skills, courses, or certificates to their CVs will help them stand out from the competition. But the truth is that everyone can copy-paste job posting requirements onto their resume or generate content using AI, which will not help them stand out and get invited to the interview.
?
What will actually help to present you as a unique, valuable candidate is something you already have – your professional RESULTS. Use them for every role you have, and especially for those skills the employer insists on (required qualifications).
?
Your personal career achievements are the only way to stand out, demonstrate, and offer a UNIQUE VALUE to a prospective employer.
?
So, when you are writing your resume (especially as a senior professional), make sure it addresses the following:
1?? Your professional RESULTS and ACHIEVEMENTS in the last 10 years – those are unique, and those are your competitive advantage. Include them as a separate resume section or highlight them under every role you had.

2?? How you MATCH job posting qualification requirements – make this visible throughout your resume (summary, skills, experience).
?
Do employers hire for passion and the ability to learn?
?
Despite what many preach here on LinkedIn, hiring managers and recruiters are looking for those who HAVE the background and skills they need to meet the requirements of the job. For some sectors, those requirements must be fully met, like 100% met.
?
Also, recruiters CAN'T see your passion or your willingness to learn on your resume, and, most likely, they don't even care about that. Hiring managers have an obligation to their own jobs, teams, and the business. Very few are willing to hire someone with little to no experience for a role unless they are willing to train - which takes time and resources, and many companies have neither.
?
So, try to INFORM yourself as much as possible about the hiring process in the company you are applying to, ask for advice from people with HR or recruiting experience, and try to accept that the job search will be full of ups and downs.
?
Don't follow the "influencers" who are actually after your money by offering useless services that will also cost you your time.
?
It's not always easy, I know. Give yourself time to think about your situation or ask for help if you feel stuck.
