The Job Search Criteria Your LinkedIn Profile Is Missing

The Job Search Criteria Your LinkedIn Profile Is Missing

Your LinkedIn profile is missing one critical piece of information, and it's preventing recruiters from reaching out to you.

You job function or industry focus doesn't matter. This affects your job search whether you're a CEO or entry level candidate.

And it's not just you ... nearly all job seekers leave this one criteria off their LinkedIn profiles also, causing recruiters to ignore them.

It's your email address. How do you plan on having recruiters contact you about job openings, if they don't have your email address? The easier you make it for recruiters to contact you about job openings, the more often they will, right?

Most job seekers leave their email address off their LinkedIn profile due to a few common misconceptions:

  1. Assuming It's Visible To Recruiters:?It's not (not even to recruiters who pay for LinkedIn recruiter),?unless you intentionally make it visible. But when you sign up for LinkedIn, you're asked for an email address, so it's easy to make the assumption it's visible. While the official line is that your email isn't disclosed for privacy reasons (although they provide privacy options for all sorts of other things) ... it's really because LinkedIn makes a ton of revenue from InMail messaging, so they want InMails to be the only communication option. You would be amazed how many millions of LinkedIn profile invite readers to reach out via email ... but fail to include an email address on their profile.
  2. Recruiters Will InMail Message You:?Recruiters know that when they send you an InMail message, it's unlikely to reach your inbox, because InMail messaging isn't unreliable in hitting email inboxes. Most LinkedIn users filter LinkedIn emails (including InMail messaging) to a separate folder or email address, along with other social media communications to keeps a clean, efficient, prioritized inbox. Even LinkedIn's messaging app delivers most recruiters' InMails to a hidden messaging screen where you're unlikely to see it. Making it even worse for recruiters, LinkedIn's InMail messaging is really expensive ($3-15 for each message) and recruiters who try to send too many InMails can get banned.
  3. Recruiters Will Send A Connection Request:?Connection requests, while technically free, can trigger system limits with expensive consequences to a recruiter. LinkedIn limits the number of daily connection requests sent,?minimum % of connection requests that are accepted, maximum unanswered connection requests, and total lifetime connection requests. LinkedIn bans recruiters who don't meet these limits, and these numbers are surprisingly low. Recruiters also know that their connection requests usually don't make it to your inbox (see #2 above).

That's why recruiters want your email address, allowing their messaging about job alerts to reach your inbox quickly, easily, in a way that's cost effective for them and doesn't risk getting banned. You'll want to do this whether you're in career transition or currently working (there are ways to include it without informing your current employer of your job search).

I teach job seekers how to accelerate their job search ... and this is just one tactic I teach. I provide free webinars to teach job seekers how to make your search faster by showing you tools needed to differentiate yourself in ways that employers notice. I'll also show you how to double your interviews, so you can beat the high competition levels of a recovering job market and find your next job in half the average time (or less).

This is the 3rd job market recovery cycle I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recovering job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recovery job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.

But I've been teaching job seekers to accelerate their job searches for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to accelerate your job search so you can find a job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what changes you can make to accelerate your job search, whether you're currently employed, between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.

I'll show you how to accelerate your job search in my next free webinar on Thursday 12/2/21 at 2:00pm ET/11:00am PT. Join me for my free Resume Revolution! webinar (enroll at https://bit.ly/3qYt4fg) to learn how to accelerate your job search and find a job fast.
