As a coach, I work with a lot of job seekers, and one of the biggest mistakes I see is spreading themselves too thin. The key to standing out in today's competitive job market isn’t about applying to every job you find. It's about being strategic and focused. Here’s what I tell my clients:
1. Quality Over Quantity I advise clients to apply strategically—instead of rushing through applications, take time to tailor each one to the role. A targeted approach will always yield better results than flooding your resume to 100 positions.
2. Leverage Your Network Connections matter more than you think. Yes, recruiters can help, but they aren’t always the golden ticket. Referrals and network connections will get you noticed faster than a generic application. Reach out to your connections and ask for introductions or advice. In my experience, the right conversation at the right time can change everything.
3. Identify Your Brand & Niche What’s your brand? What do you consistently do well, and where does your expertise lie? Focus on your niche and the industry where you've built experience. Companies are looking for people with depth—those who have honed skills over several years. If you’ve spent 5-10 years in a specific field or role, that’s gold.
If you’re pivoting, focus on transferable skills, but understand that this transition might take longer. You’re up against professionals who have been in the industry for years and are already highly skilled in the area you’re trying to break into. It requires patience and perseverance, but it can work with the right strategy.
4. What You Do AFTER The Interview Counts It’s not just about performing well in the interview—it’s about how you follow up. Personalize your thank-you notes, express genuine interest, and remind them of your value. Small actions can leave a lasting impression.
And these ideas or strategies work. Below are some comments

Focus on quality, use your network wisely, identify your niche and brand, and don’t forget that the interview process doesn’t stop the moment you walk out. What you do after matters just as much!
