Everything.Insure is seeking an experienced and dynamic Insurance Head to lead our insurance operations in South Africa. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Claims Handlers, Underwriters, and Brokers, driving profitable growth and fostering strong relationships with insurers across the short-term market.
- Lead and manage a team of insurance professionals, providing strategic direction, coaching, and mentorship to ensure operational excellence and high-performance.
- Negotiate and manage binder agreements with insurers, ensuring favourable terms, competitive rates, and efficient claims handling processes.
- Continuously monitor the profitability of binder arrangements, implementing strategies to optimise performance and mitigate risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including insurers, brokers, and industry partners, fostering collaboration and trust.
- Actively seek and secure new binder opportunities with insurers, expanding the range of products and solutions offered through the Everything.Insure digital platform.
- Collaborate with product development teams to identify market gaps and develop innovative insurance products tailored to the digital environment.
- Leverage deep technical knowledge in short-term insurance to provide subject matter expertise and guidance to the organisation.
- Drive the performance and growth of the broker team, implementing effective sales strategies, incentive programs, and training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices within the insurance operations.
- Analyse market trends, industry data, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and strategic development.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the South African insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing profitable binder arrangements and maintaining strong relationships with insurers.
- Extensive knowledge of short-term insurance products, underwriting processes, claims management, and regulatory requirements in South Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools, including underwriting systems and data analytics platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field is required; advanced degrees or industry certifications are preferred.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex insurance concepts effectively.
