Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) is currently seeking to fill an Electrical Specialist - Transportation Systems Technician C or D in Wenatchee/Ephrata, WA. This position performs skilled electrical and electronic work in more than one discipline of the TST program. This position will consist of installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing Traffic Signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Communications, Highway Lighting systems and related electrical services and distribution equipment in and around North Central Region. This position is responsible for ensuring that all electrical devices are installed, and work completed by the crew, is done per all applicable state and national codes and that all work on electrical systems is performed in a safe manner consistent with WSDOT safety policy.

This work is performed in all weather conditions and will require utilizing standard and specialized test equipment in accordance with all applicable safety standards to safely perform essential job functions. These positions make critical decisions as to the degree of hazard to the traveling public and determines the nature of the problem(s) and make recommendations or repairs as quickly and safely as possible. Transportation System technicians work to enhance the safety and efficiency of the highway system through proactive maintenance and timely repairs of malfunctions of Traffic Signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Highway Lighting Systems.
