Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a State Pavement Engineer to strategically manage all aspects of the pavement engineering program for the department. WSDOT owns and maintains over 18,500 lane miles of rigid and flexible pavements in several unique climates, traversing mountains, arid farmland, coastal regions, and highly urbanized environments. As the State Pavement Engineer, you will directly impact the department’s design, construction, and management of its pavement assets throughout the state. Additionally, this position is the department’s pavement technical expert and is responsible for final decisions on statewide policies for design, rehabilitation, and asset management for WSDOT’s pavements. In this essential role, you will develop and approve statewide pavement policies and oversee their implementation and manage statewide strategic directions and goals for improving, modifying, and enhancing pavement design, construction and management policies and practices.?Our top candidate must possess pavement engineering work experience focused on the design and management of flexible and rigid pavement structures.
