- Responsible for providing professional and efficient legal advice / services / supports to company projects and operations in the Joint Development Area (JDA) such as providing legal advisory, regulatory / statutory compliance, ensuring good governance, drafting all legal documentations, contract negotiations and managing legal disputes; as well as providing recommendations for appropriate action with the objective of protecting legal and commercial interests of the Company as well as the Company’s business needs and objectives in any venture activities.
- Provide legal advice and opinion on all matters pertaining to the law and regulatory requirements as well as legal and commercial exposures and risks in respect of the operation/activities impacting the Company to ensure they are informed of legal implications in decision making process.
- Recommend and advice on the development of laws of Malaysia & Thailand in relation to any operation / projects as well as international laws having extra‐territorial effect on such operation / projects.
- Review and prepare tender and legal documentation to ensure alignment with Company’s policies, guidelines and governance to protect Company’s interest.
- Act as Legal Advisor in Tender Committee meetings for all tenders valuing USD250K and below.
- Negotiate contractual terms and conditions to ensure they are formulated in the best interest of Company.
- Manage the company’s legal disputes and litigation matters while coordinating with external lawyers (Advocates & Solicitors) on the legal proceedings align with company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Assist Company Secretary / Head Legal counsel for secretarial matters. Ensure that all corporate and company secretarial obligations for the Company are discharged in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and corporate governance.
- Maintain relationship with shareholders and stakeholders to keep them abreast with the latest information on company's business update and progress and aim to enhance the self confidence in company services, products, and business solutions.
- Develop the department policies and procedures by reviewing operational needs and obtaining approval and ensure compliance with business requirements, strategies and objectives.
- Ensure the execution of planned activities or assist in planned activities related to core job responsibility in compliance and adhere with company HSE policies and industrial standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Superior.
- Bachelor’s degree in laws / LLB or Barrister‐at‐Law from recognized universities / institutions.
- Minimum 6 years working experience as legal officer or advocate & solicitor.
- Experience in oil & gas industries is an advantage.
- Must be computer and IT literate.
- Possesses good communication skills and negotiation skills.
