Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Executive Assistant in support of the Eastern Region’s Executive Team. The Executive Assistant keeps the Regional Administrator informed of and/or handles day to day affairs and critical issues requiring department action. This position acts as a liaison between the Regional Administrator and direct reports, local elected officials, legislators, citizens, WSDOT executives, staff, and other stakeholders. It is imperative that the incumbent in the position maintains effective and positive public relations as they are responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material.
Using independent judgement, the Executive Assistant makes decisions and acts on administrative matters. In addition, this professional will respond to inquiries from employees, customers, the Governor’s office, Legislature, and other state agencies on various department policies and procedures and current issues regarding the WSDOT’s mission, goals, and values. We are looking for an experienced, self-directed individual who exhibits sound judgement with limited direction and independently takes initiative to work issues to timely resolution. Along with the other members of the leadership team, this position is a champion and change agent for WSDOT’s Strategic Goals of workforce development, resilience, and diversity-equity-inclusion. You will support regional social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to help WSDOT create a workforce that represents the communities the agency serves.
