Job Opportunity: Deputy Regional Administrator - Northwest Region

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking an experienced transportation professional ready and willing to provide leadership, guidance, and support as the Deputy Region Administrator for WSDOT’s Northwest Region (NWR). The NWR includes 45% of the state's population (approximately 3.5 million people) with a very diverse and complex transportation environment which includes rural, suburban and complex urban environments.

The individual in this position serves as the number two executive manager for the NWR and a key strategic partner to the Region Administrator; working in conjunction with the Region Administrator to develop and implement strategies, plans and policies. The position includes full delegated authority to act in the absence of the Region Administrator and oversees the delivery of the region's programs and services including the highway construction program, maintenance, operations, and administrative services. Approximately 1,400 WSDOT staff report through six Assistant Regional Administrators to this position. The position also represents WSDOT in various external forums that include representation from federal, state, local agencies, transit, and private citizens. As such, our ideal candidate is customer service oriented, safety-minded, and has experience working with diverse groups.
