Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)?is currently seeking an experienced communications professional who has an extensive background in public outreach, media relations, community relations, internal communications, marketing, customer service, governmental relations, and traffic. Reporting directly to the Regional Administrator, the Communications Manager provides professional communications services to Olympic Region (OR) offices, orgs, and management staff. The Communications Manager provides strategic leadership and develops external and internal communication plans. Due to the highly political nature of transportation, this position must routinely plan several years in advance to create and lead long-term strategic communications campaigns and community engagement strategies. The manager identifies and implements communications strategies on construction projects, traffic operations, maintenance issues and incident/emergency response aligned with the agency’s communications plan. The OR Communications Manager coordinates with other region Communications Managers to maximize the effectiveness of multi-region communications initiatives. This position will manage communications office staff required to be available 24/7 to provide information to the public that aligns with the agency's communications plans and must be able to relay accurate, timely and strategic information using a variety of communication tools and resources.
