Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an Assistant Region Traffic Operations Engineer/Transportation Engineer 4 to support the Olympic Region and WSDOT’s mission to provide safer, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options to improve communities and economic vitality for people and businesses. They will do this by assisting in managing the Traffic Operations Office team and staff in delivering Field Assessment (FA); Low-Cost Enhancement (LCE) projects; the yearly inventory, night reflectivity assessments, ball banking and other traffic corridor data collection/management and studies; and other solutions development and review to improve traffic operations. The Assistant Region Traffic Operations Engineer serves as a mediator working with the regionwide crews Superintendent to accomplish FA and LCE projects. They work closely with the Traffic Operations Engineer in responding to customer concerns and complaints, administering region traffic regulations (e.g., speed limits, turn restrictions, and other calendar actions) in general conformance with federal and state code, and delivering region Motorist Information Sign (MIS) program, special event program oversight, and other Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) program functions as necessary.
