Assistant Estimator - Civil Engineering Projects - Salary - ￡25k - ￡37k (depending on experience) + Car Allowance, Pension plus contributions, Private Health care - Based in Manchester

The Company

An established Manchester based civil engineering contractor are looking for an Assistant Estimator with a civil engineering background.

An exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects such as

• Civil Engineering
• Substations
• HV
• Civil Engineering
• Wind Farms

The role will involve working as part of the estimating team in a junior role.?

Duties (assisting in the following)

• Calculation of quantities and prices
• Build relationships with Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Competitors
• Monitor potential incoming enquiries
• Maintain up-to-date market knowledge of labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
• Preparation of proposals and tenders
• Prepare & send out sub-contract & material enquiries using conquest enquiry system
• Check tender documentation
• Assisting development of supply chain and going out to market
• Manage, as directed, enquiries for labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
• Price bills/schedules analytically and produce quote comparisons using conquest estimating software
• Complete tender pricing for adjudication by the tender committee, including reporting on any risks or onerous conditions, providing a winning edge
• Assist in developing Company estimating library
• Measure tender against Decision Analysis
• Inform Tender Committee on Contract Conditions

Essentials

Must have worked as a build trainee or assistant estimator in a previous role

Must have some estimating software in a previous role

Ideal person will have some on site experience and a construction qualification HND / HNC / Degree
