Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Washington State Ferries (WSF) Information Technology Division (ITD) is currently seeking an IT System Administration Journey level to serve as the IT Asset Management Specialist. Ferries ITD is a place-based organization that supports all Washington State Ferries operations plus any WSDOT groups that reside at a Ferries site. WSF Information Technology Department functions as the central support department for all technology-related equipment, software, and systems for the nearly 1,800 employees working for WSF. This includes 21 vessels and 19 terminals that span over seven counties, two countries, three major WSF facilities, and four commercial shipyards. This position in the Ferries Division is responsible for working with business stakeholders to develop complex business needs into IT requirements, coordinate efforts across the agency on asset management and providing information on the state of good repair, developing documentation that drives IT capital investments and providing on-site inspections for a wide variety of IT projects.?Asset management is a strategic, risk-based approach to cost-effective and efficient management of assets of Washington’s transportation system. WSDOT considers asset management a key component of Practical Solutions as a way to cost-effectively manage the assets of the transportation system. The specialist is responsible for development and administration of a strategic, risk-based asset management program for the WSDOT Ferries Division with the objective of to achieve and sustain a state of good repair over the expected useful life of a given asset at minimum practical cost.
