Remember the days, when you would upload a CV/Resume to a Job Board (it didn't matter which one) or you would register with a recruitment company, one that was either local to you, or specialised in your sector.

Within minutes, you would have phone calls, txt messages, emails, of different jobs and opportunities, desperate for you to interview!

You could leave a job, without a job and within a week, you would have 2-3 offers on the table!

It wasn't even a thing to worry about, it was just a given that you would get a job.


Not anymore I am afraid!


Now, we are in a world that has changed, but certain industries haven't caught up, or processes and practices aren't yet fit for purpose.


So lets break it down and understand why we are where we are and what has caused this dramatic change.


Well, we cant ignore Covid and this isn't a blame game, where I am looking for an easy out and just blaming Covid. Covid isn't the change, but it was the catalyst.

Pre Covid, the majority of people worked from offices and you typically looked for a role that was within a 30-45 minute commutable distance, which meant the options for work were limited, but as were the options for talent.

Post Covid, the whole world went remote, which meant that talent pools were now nationwide, or even global, so being a specific person with a specific skillset in a specific area, suddenly lost its pull, as people could essentially access anyone and anywhere.


This has led to huge amounts of applicants per role, in excess of 500 on average globally.

  • The US has 5million open Jobs on LinkedIn yet 35million people open to work and all will be looking at remote jobs.
  • The UK has 500k open jobs on LinkedIn and 5million people open to work, and again, all will be looking at remote jobs.


Is it any wonder you cant get hired?


We then throw in the expansion and accessibility of Social Media, giving everyone access to everyone and suddenly you can see why you are getting ghosted or being rejected.


Of course, we cant ignore AI, which has been seen as the saviour of a lot of markets, but in regards to Jobs/Hiring and Recruitment, its having the adverse effect, with systems not accurately assessing or screening, meaning more people than ever are being lost or ignored.


The world has change and sadly, unless you change, you are going to be left out in the cold!

We have to accept this reality, as the alternative choice just doesn't work and it means unemployment, homelessness and in some cases worse.


We have to accept that the world has changed and the industry has changed and if we don't adapt and get on board, pretty bloody quickly, it is going to pass us by.


Now we aren't standing by and accepting this and we aren't going to sit back and let people and companies struggle and suffer, when its so clear what needs to be done, so we are fighting and we are disrupting and we are levelling the playing field with our tools, our experience and our resources.
