Indigo has placed a record order for 300 single-aisle aircraft of the Airbus A320neo family, Bloomberg reports. The deal, worth $33 billion at list prices, allows the airline to replace the older A320 fleet by 2022 and fuel its global growth plans. Indigo will get a mix of short- and long-haul planes, including the A321XLR mode (available by 2024) which can fly 8,700 km without refueling. IndiGo’s A320neo orders now stand at 730, making it the world’s biggest customer for these planes. The carrier recently launched services to Istanbul, Riyadh and Chengdu. Join the conversation.

One in four professionals in the IT services sector are looking for a new job, Economic Times reports, citing a dipstick survey by Xpheno. The company mapped 17 lakh employees at the top 13 IT services companies and found that 4.7 lakh – or 27% of the workforce – were actively scouting for fresh opportunities in the previous quarter, after the increment cycle ended. Tech firms are tightening their belts, and increments this year averaged below 5%, with some in the 1-2% range. Sangeeta Gupta of industry body Nasscom says companies are getting more stringent on performance because of a “hyper-competitive” environment. Join the conversation.

Delhiites may be gasping for air this Diwali, but they have access to maximum urban green spaces. A study by Livemint shows Delhi is the greenest Indian metro with a vegetation cover of 56.2% as compared to 12.3% in Mumbai — the last in the pecking order. While Delhi provides 41 sq m of green space per person, every Mumbaikar gets just 4.4 sq m. Idea of the day: Great readers make great leaders, writes Julia Hartz, CEO and Co-founder at Eventbrite. I agree.Learing begins from cradle? and? ends at grave .Unless employees? ?keep themselves? updated? ?on their soft and hard skill- sets? to guarantee? they are? employable they? will not only become redundant but irrelevant . The genesis of the? ?current unemployment crisis? in India has it roots? ?in our failure to? provide? right type? of skills to existing and? future aspirants.
