Job boards, company career pages and LinkedIn are some of the biggest reasons your unemployment job search is taking so long.
Job boards, career pages and applying through LinkedIn keep you from getting interviews when you're qualified, give you horrible odds of success, and cause much of the dysfunction you experience in the job search process.
It's even worse when you're searching while unemployed.?It's because job boards, company career pages, and LinkedIn job applications are used by employers for two 2 primary reasons:
It's why applying through job boards give you just .0001% chance of success, based on two studies by major job boards. When you apply through job boards, it feels like you're sending your resume into the wind. In reality, it's even worse than it feels.??It's just as bad when you apply through company career pages and LinkedIn.
So why are you still applying on job boards? It seems easy, and it's what you've been taught by outplacement and most career coaches/authors. You're taught to conduct your job search based on luck, in the face of poor odds, because it's simple and about 10% of unemployed job seekers do get lucky, while 90% struggle when applying using these methods.
