And the backstory...I was living in Savin Hill in Dorchester, MA. I walked over to UMass Boston with my dog to inquire about a fiction class. They offered me a teaching job and entrance to the MA program. Boar Island is my thesis. It's a demonstration of Russian Literary Theory as applied to the gothic novel. It's speculative horror. You need to be in possession of the missing piece for the novel to work. I am referring to other novels as I go. It’s a type of writing that might be in fashion in a hundred years. Or never. Some people love this book for the risks it takes. But like all my writing: it’s not for everyone...
