You’ve probably heard the phrase “you get what you pay for.”

Well this is what I say to people when they say that they have gone else where to buy their database.. That or .. Ill see you in 3 month time when the other company cant deliver!

Arrogant? NO Confident in the service I deliver !!

Picking your B2B marketing list is a very important part of your marketing campaign. If you get it right, you will have more customers and sales.

If you get it wrong, then no matter how much money you spend on other things like letter design and print or how much time you spend coming up with clever copy; it will not matter because you won’t be getting the results that your business needs.

The quick how to:

As you prepare to buy your business marketing list, it's important to know that value is more important than cost. Cost is what you spend on the data, but it doesn't necessarily reflect how valuable the advice or excellent customer service is for the customer.

For example, let's say I'm selling a business list and one of my competitors sells a business list at half the price of mine.

Does this mean they are getting value for money? No! They may not be getting the correct advice about different lists available, or ideas on how to use the list effectively, quality guarantees or even an opinion as to whether the project will work.

So while it's important not to overspend on buying your business marketing list, don't forget about the value side of things: Will the sales person just take your money or really care about you, your business and the campaign.

What is this value?

Value is the benefit you get for paying for something.

It's what you want. i.e. a marketing list but its what someone else wants i.e. New customers.

For example, if you pay £100 for a business email list and you send an email out and you get nothing but high bounce rates and complaints. Where’s the value in that?

So how do we measure value?

This is where a good data broker like Data Bubble will help you. We are independent companies, we search the market and source the most appropriate mailing lists based on your requirements.

A good data broker will also monitor the different lists that are available for compliance and for accuracy. They will offer help and advice on which lists to use for your campaign.

With so many different mailing lists available, they save you time and resources trying to find those perfect business list for your campaign.

How much value is enough?

Value is what you get in return for your money. But there's more to it than that. The value of something can be subjective and will vary from person to person.

So it depends on what matters most to you!

If we're talking about business marketing lists specifically, then there are even more factors at play: What’s the average open rate? What’s are the quality guarantees? Do they convert into sales?

These questions make up part of an overall calculation when deciding how much value a list gives.

Value is more important than cost.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “you get what you pay for.”

The value of something is what it's worth to you. The cost of something is the price you pay for it.

A business marketing list is like this: if you pay too little for it and you get bombarded with complaints that take up valuable resources and that potentially lead to fines by the ICO, then where is the value in that.

Yet if you speak to a reputable data broker that will help and guide you to get the most out of your investment as possible then it’s a no brainer.

I guess for those of us on the outside: knowing how to specify the quality of data is a challenge: every supplier tells us its quality data...so what are the telling questions we need to ask?

Totally agree Joanne. Buying cheap lists means you get garbage data :)
