As this week is ???????????????? ???????? ???????? I thought Id share some tips on how to use direct mail to promote your college open events.

Open events and taster days are a great way to showcase your college to local students.

Yet in today's over crowed digital marketing it can sometime be difficult to stand out from the crowd. Thats why many colleges are turning to direct mail to promote their open events and recruit more new students.

Use personalisation to stand out

With the power of technology, gone are the days of generic 'To Whom It May Concern' letters. You can now include the student's name or parents name, and tailored information about the event itself.

Personalisation shows that you have made an effort, which can go a long way with potential students.

Make it interactive

Instead of a one-sided piece of paper, try making your direct mail piece interactive. This can be as simple as adding a mini course prospectus or Z card showing the courses you offer.

Simple things like this can make your piece more memorable and engaging, meaning potential students are more likely to act on it.

Focus on the benefits

When promoting your open event, focus on the benefits that attending will bring. For example, if you're a college specialises in a specific courses, highlight the opportunity to meet with industry professionals, tutors or see examples of student work.

Focusing on the benefits will show potential students what's in it for them, making them more likely to attend.

Use strong visuals

Make sure your direct mail piece includes strong visuals that accurately represent your brand. After all, first impressions count! If your piece looks professional and inviting, potential students will be more likely to take notice.

Don't forget a call-to-action

The whole point of direct mail is to get people to take action, so make sure your piece includes a strong call-to-action (CTA). Your CTA should be clear and concise, telling people exactly what you want them to do e.g. "RSVP today!"

If you're looking for a way to promote your college open events, direct mail is definitely worth considering.

With personalisation, interactivity, strong visuals, and an effective CTA, you can create a piece that will grab attention and encourage potential students to attend your event.
