Before the torch was lit and the first event took place, many Parisians had their doubts about our own Olympics. The voices of criticism, skepticism, fear, and doubt often overshadowed the excitement and anticipation.

?But as we close the chapter on two weeks of intense, thrilling competitions, the mood in Paris has undergone a dramatic shift. The city has been swept up in an overwhelming wave of joy, unity, and what can only be described as true Olympia-mania—felt equally by our international visitors and the French alike.

During the entire games over 900 medals will be awarded to the exceptional athletes among the 10,500 competitors at these Paris Games. However, I believe the city of Paris itself deserves a special gold medal for its outstanding performance as a host. Here’s why:

- Impeccable Organization: From the seamless transportation network that effortlessly guided millions through the city, to the flawless execution of complex events like the opening ceremony on the Seine, Paris showed it can handle the world’s biggest stage.

- Warm Hospitality: Visitors were greeted with smiles and warmth. Stories of locals going out of their way to help lost tourists became common, and the city’s effort to provide multilingual support at all venues ensured everyone felt welcome.

- Unwavering Support: The roar of the crowd in venues like Stade de France and Roland Garros was electric, with fans from all over the world standing shoulder to shoulder, cheering not just for their own but for all athletes.

- Global Respect: The way Paris celebrated diversity was evident in the Parade of Nations, where each country was given the spotlight it deserved, and in the culturally rich side events that showcased the heritage of the participating nations.

- Togetherness: Whether it was during the dramatic final matches or in the fan zones scattered across the city, the spirit of unity was undeniable. People from different backgrounds came together, united by the Olympic spirit.

- Disciplined Execution: Even with the massive influx of visitors, Paris maintained order with efficient crowd control measures, punctual event schedules, and a clean, secure environment throughout the Games.

- Friendly Atmosphere: From the friendly banter in the fan zones to the warm exchanges between volunteers and visitors, the atmosphere in Paris was one of camaraderie and positivity.

- Volunteer Spirit: Over 45,000 volunteers embodied the Olympic spirit, whether they were guiding spectators to their seats, assisting athletes behind the scenes, or simply offering a helping hand with a smile. Their enthusiasm was contagious and played a huge role in the success of these Games.
